Lisa Debaillie

I'm Lisa Debaillie, a 24-year-old Belgian-based filmmaker. I have always been a creative jack-of-all-trades. Art in general has always been a passion of mine. From a young age, I was already drawing on every single piece of paper I could find. If I wasn't drawing or dancing, another passion of mine, I was at the cinema with friends. Pursuing film was an easy road for me to find. Thus, in 2023, I graduated from LUCA School of Arts campus Narafi. However, this technical knowledge was not enough for me. I wanted to explore the artistic side of filmmaking. So I entered the Masters programma at Sint-Lukas, which I graduated from in 2026.
Fiction has been ever-present in my life and practice; however, in recent years I have started exploring experimental and archival filmmaking. Though there is a red thread throughout most of my work, themes of family and mental health. With my work, I want to bring understanding and break prejudices.
Even though I love the artistic side of film and want to keep exploring this new arena, my heart is still with the technical aspect. More specifically, the light and colorgrading departments. Throughout my studies, I have helped on multiple student films in these departments.
Lastly, I worked on the Christmas film 'The Claus Family 3' (Ruben Vandenborre, 2022) and the fifth season of 'Dertigers' (Warner Bros ITVP, 2022) as an assistant production trainee.
